Dear Mr. Daryl,
I hope this letter find you in good health. Probably you have read the final report of the released manatees monitoring, if you have, you may share the happiness I feel knowing that the last tracking show that manatees have found a nice and safe place to live.
I realize that we met just once and maybe you don’t remember me so well, but I would like to thank you. The day of the mantees release, I felt a great responsibility upon me, which was the last part of the series of care for manatees; ACOBIA – Dwazoo had invested so much effort in them. I would like to thank you for trusting me.
Living in “el Dorado” was an amazing adventure. I say “living” because I spent more time there that at home since liberation until last tracking. I acknowledge that it was hard sometimes, being far away from family. But each day would bring some new amazements, such as pink dolphins jumping out of the water, river otters swimming near the boat, a jaguar print in the shore, and so on. I have seen the most beautiful sunsets and I have found tagged manatees, it worth the effort.
Today, after all these months, it is satisfactory to tell that I finished my task there. The manatees are back in nature, and we could not have done it without your support. Thank you, very much.
This experience and field work will also allow me to obtain my degree by working on the thesis. I realize how lucky I am, because for me it was possible to perform the experimental part of the thesis fully financed, working towards the conservation of this flagship specie. I must thank you for it, because without your support, this would not have been possible.
I’m sending you some pictures I took when I was working in “El Dorado”. I hope you enjoy them.
Best regards,
Sarah Landeo
Thank you
